| Bristol Bikefest wrap-up |
|
Bristol Bikefest is over for another year, and yet again it was a cracking weekend of tough but friendly racing. The course was in good condition following the previous weekend's trail day, which involved lots of subtle tweaks to the track. One patient volunteer even walked the entire course and cut back any overhanging branches. Some sections received a slight smoothing, but there were still enough rocks and roots to keep riders on their toes. Some comments I've seen about it include "a fun but tough course that doesn't fall to bits in the wet" and "nice and technical in the singletrack, a proper mountain bike race". Great work everyone! The next big project for the summer is going to be to get 50 Acre Wood fully open again, fix any sections of trail that have been damaged by the logging, and see what improvements we can make over there. If you want to be notified when work over there re-starts, just register on the website or join our Facebook group. And if you haven't had enough racing for one year, or you're vowing revenge after multiple visits from the puncture fairy, the same team are putting on an 8-hour event in October. |
