It's time for another of our sporadic meetings to discuss what's happening with Bristol's local trails. Come to the Scotchman And His Pack pub on St Michael's Hill on Monday 28 February at 7.00 pm to have your say.
Topics for discussion will include:
1. New trails
A representative of designers Architrail will be in attendance to talk to you about the new trails. If you weren't at the consultations or the launch event, and the online information has left you with questions, come along find out what the ideas behind the new trails are, where they're going to go, how they'll ride, and more.
2. The future of the Group
Although we started out as a formally constituted organisation with a committee, the Trails Group is currently run on an informal basis with most trail days and events organised by just one person. We'd like to expand and formalise again to make the group more secure for the future, share the responsibility and open up our options for funding. If you want to be more closely involved or even put yourself up for committee membership, either contact us or just come along on the night.
3. Budgets and project news from last year
A quick summary of what we got up to and what it cost.
4. Projects for 2011 and beyond
As well as ongoing improvement of 50 Acre Wood, we have a pump track development in the works. There are also other local sites where we could look at developing trails... all suggestions welcome! We're also breaking with tradition and planning a special one-off ride at the end of March, more details on the night.
5. Access and rights of way
With the successful campaign against the Forestry sell-off centreing around access rights, and other campaigns like Singletrack magazine's "Access All Areas", is it time we started making more of a fuss about access? I'll explain why I think this is important and what we could be doing locally and nationally.
6. The Bristol MTB scene
We have loads of riders in Bristol, two big MTB clubs, lots of smaller groups of riders, a trail maintenance group, a tonne of bike shops... what else would you like to see? A local race series, a club for younger riders, a chairlift? Bring your suggestions along and share them with like-minded people.
7. If there's anything else you want to discuss which isn't covered above, just add it here or come along on the night. |
