| 50 Acre Wood Trail Day, Saturday 10 July |
|
With Ashton Court set for a major facelift next spring (see www.1sw.org.uk for more details), it's time to turn our attention to the other side of the road!
It's been a bit neglected of late, due to uncertainty over logging operations (no point in fixing the trail over there if it's just going to get run over by a huge machine), needing to get contractors in to clear some of the blocked sections, and the fact that we're finally having a proper summer again, meaning the ground's too hard to dig!
Over the next few months we'll be upgrading the surface of some sections (while still keeping it interesting for the more experienced riders), undoing the damage caused by logging, and generally getting it into tip top shape for the winter (and a possible phase 2 of construction over there). The plan for this first trail day is to keep things fairly modest and start by restoring some of the lines that were short cut during the logging, and doing a bit of surfacing if conditions are right. We're meeting at 11.00 am at the Squeeze Stile (near the "S" on this map) and will be working until about 4.00 pm. Ring me on 0771 265 0857 if you need directions. If you've not come on a trail day before then a good place to start is our Frequently Asked Questions section. If you're still bewildered after reading that, drop us an email.
